Bring the kids for a colourful lantern parade & free concert
Are you a proud Queenslander? Come and celebrate Queensland Day on 6 June 2014!
Join with your fellow Queenslanders in welcoming the newcomers to our wonderful state. Over 8000 Queenslanders from all walks of life will welcome our newest neighbours with the Luminous Lantern Parade and afterwards, Robert Forster, of the celebrated local band The Go-Betweeners, will "Walk the Streets of Your Town" at a concert in the Courier Mail Piazza.
The evening starts at 5.30pm with a bright and beautiful walk across Victoria Bridge from Reddacliff Place to the Cultural Forecourt, joining the parade of colourful mesmerising lanterns.
The parade then winds its way through South Bank Parklands in a dazzling display of light before entering the Courier Mail Piazza for a free concert filled with world music and dancing, headlined by Robert Forster.
Children will delight in the colour and beauty of the lanterns as the night is lit with sparkle and wonder. Parents, friends and couples will enjoy the captivating atmosphere of the evening as well as the markets and multicultural flavours on offer.
What a beautiful way to welcome family and friends to Queensland. The Luminous Parade and evening has established itself as a bright, colourful and unique tribute to multicultural Queensland, becoming a signature event on Queensland's events calendar as part of Queensland Day celebrations.
This event is part of Queensland Week. See the official Queensland Week website to find out the history of the commemoration.
