Do you know what was the first name given to Australia? Well guess again because it was not Van Diemens Land but in fact was first christened "New Zealand" by the Dutch. Curious, isn't it? This was the kind of 'quite interesting' banter being discussed in the first ever live show of QI at Burswood theatre earlier this month.
If you've ever watched Blackadder or Jonathon Creek, you'll be familiar with the host Stephen Fry and full-time panellist Alan Davies on the BBC's popular quiz show, QI. Over its ten seasons, many celebrities and comedians have offered their insight to the show, including Bill Bailey and Tim Minchin, making the show as entertaining as it is thoughtful.
Joining Fry and Davies on stage were a selection of well known Australian names, including new host of Ready Steady Cook Colin Lane and comedian Denise Scott. The two hour show was packed with Fry's immeasurable wit and Davies' crude sense of humour, giving the crowd plenty to think about even while crying with laughter.
If you have been living under a rock for the last twenty years and haven't seen either of these amazing British minds, then go and have a look at some of their extensive works. Or, better yet, grab yourself tickets for Alan Davies live show at the Astor Theatre on December 2, if you enjoy comedians such as Ricky Gervais or Peter Kay, he will definitely give you a good laugh.
