If you are sick of looking at the world from ground level, it is high time (pardon the pun) you made the trip to QDeck the observation deck of the world's tallest residential building, Q1.

Located in the heart of Surfers Paradise, QDeck, is the only beachside observation deck in Australia, giving you 360 degree views of the Gold Coast: from beach to bush. But it is not just the destination that is the treat here the journey to the top in one of the world's fastest elevators is an attraction in itself.

While you are up there you can visit QBar for cocktails at altitude or, for the less adventurous, coffee and cake with a view.

Be warned, the journey down in the elevator may not be quite as fun with a belly full of cake.

Why? Australia's only beachside observation deck
When: Sun-Thurs 9:00am-9:00pm; Fri and Sat 9:00am-8:00pm
Where: Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast
Cost: Adults - $19; Children - $11
I went here for my friend's 18th birthday party about three years ago and it was beautiful up there. But boy did my ears go pop big time. I could not hear anything for a while because the elevator has to go up so many levels and my ears kept getting worse and worse. Besides that experience, it was beautiful and you could see the whole Gold Coast while relaxing with a glass of champagne and talking to friends and family.
