Get your gift shopping done in one trip at Art Gallery
With all this talk of Christmas, you may have already had a bit of a splurge with purchasing gifts for your friends, family and maybe just a tiny bit of shopping for yourself (you know, because this way you'll KNOW you're getting something you love under the tree this year). With your gift-buying started, it's now time to turn to those on the list who are a little more difficult to find something perfect for and who you always end up giving the ill-fated socks and jocks combo after some last-minute panic buying.
Stress no more about those who love the finer things in life and seem to have it all. You will find a gorgeous gift at the annual QAGOMA Christmas Design Market on 29th November under the marquees at the doors to the gallery.
There will be market curator Kylie Johnson's label paper boat press with her fine ceramics in bowls, quote tags, decorations and all manner of other lovely things. Jewellery designers abound as Liana Kabel brings her resin and bejewelled creations, Kimono Reincarnate shows off her reclaimed kimono, resin and sterling silver pieces and Jettas Nest shows off her hand-drawn wooden necklaces and brooches. Each To Own rounds out the designers with her bright and fun acrylic and wooden jewellery.

With some of Brisbane's best makers, you'll be able to pick up gorgeous ceramics and homewares to make your house the envy of all this Christmas. Erin Lightfoot will be making an appearance with her delicate ceramics with designs inspired by Edwardian patterns. Yardage Designs will be bringing her distinctly Aussie printed tea towels and other soft furnishings and Edward & Lilly has a great selection of embroidered, eco friendly tissue covers, pencil cases and buttons to choose from.
For those who like really unique pieces, be sure to find Your Organ Grinder for fibre art like no other. Body parts in jars, felted brain brooches, gall bladder necklaces and skull totes are just a few of the curiosities to be found at her stall. Perfect for the odd-bod in your life who's hard to find the perfect gift for at Christmas time.
These are one of my favourite markets near the silly season as there is always enough room to see everything on the stalls and the choices are fantastic. There are more stallholders than I've listed and you'll be sure to pick up a good chunk of your seasonal shopping all in one day and be happy in the knowledge that you are supporting an individual artist to have a Merry Christmas too.
