National Pyjama Day is all about wearing your best bedtime attire to help
The Pyjama Foundation raise much-needed awareness and funds for children in foster care.
A highlight of this year's National Pyjama Day on Friday 20th July will be the taking place in Melbourne's CBD. The Pyjama Foundation will work with students from Universities and dance academies with the support of Australia Post employees to wow passers by in the city with a pyjama clad flash mob.
The Pyjama Foundation also holds other events across Melbourne leading up to
National Pyjama Day on Friday 20th July, including Pyjama Angels dropping into childcare centres and reading to the little ones.
Your can register your workplace, school or childcare centre for National Pyjama Day
online to receive a free fundraising kit, and by wearing your favourite PJ's and by making a donation, you'll be making a difference to the lives of children in foster care. The Pyjama Day event can be held anytime in July or August, but if your workplace or school is not holding a Pyjama Day event you can also make a donation to the Pyjama Foundation directly via
Give Easy online, and have a stay at home day in your PJ's if you like, to mark the event.
Statistics highlight poor literacy and numeracy levels of children in care, which contribute to a lifetime of disadvantage. Through a simple program known as the
Love of Learning Program , volunteers called Pyjama Angels are matched with a child in care, and spend just one hour a week focusing on learning based activities. Pyjama Angels read books aloud, play educational games, and help children with their homework. In that time, they demonstrate that this child is valued and loved.
With the money raised from National Pyjama Day, you'll be helping The Pyjama Foundation offer learning skills to more than 1,000 children, fund educational resources and help provide stable, positive relationships.
So this July put on your favourite PJ's, make a donation, and get your friends/colleagues involved.
