As you drive along, you can't help but notice the signs out the front advertising putt putt, a driving range, clay pigeon shooting, baseball batting nets, laser tag, Frisbee Golf and Soccer Golf - all in the one convenient venue.

After moving to the Nelson Bay region, my mini golf-loving family had been waiting for a rainy day to visit the centre as we noticed that the Putt Putt course was completely undercover - making it the perfect wet weather, family activity. It wasn't long before we woke up one Saturday to a tropical downpour, with the forecast telling us that it had set in for the entire day. We didn't mind - it was time to play Putt Putt!





A good feature of this venue is that it also has a wide range of other things to do, before or after your game. We saw kids hitting balls off the driving range, couples having a laugh at the baseball batting nets and golfers heading off to play golf in the rain. For dog lovers, there is also a friendly resident dog to pat as soon as you walk in.

A game of Putt Putt costs $10 for adults, $8 for children or $34 for a family of four, making it an affordable family attraction in the area. Remember to take cash, as this venue is cash only - but if you get caught out, there is an ATM in the foyer. Once you have paid, you then grab your clubs, balls and scorecard and follow the colourful animal footprints on the floor to the first hole. Who will be the ultimate Putt Putt champion in your family?



As the whole area is under cover, this Putt Putt course is ideal for rainy days and also for hot days in summer, as there is plenty of shade to protect you from the elements. Each hole has a challenge - with yellow metal loops to hit into, hanging metal poles to putt between, holes positioned on the side of hills, holes which drop the balls down onto a lower level and tricky shots, which all ages will enjoy. Some of the holes are repeated, which isn't very challenging, however if you had trouble the first time, then you get another chance the second time. Although it is clear that this Putt Putt course was built many years ago, and is looking tired around the edges, it is still a fun way to spend an hour or so with the family - having a laugh and high-fiving when someone gets a hole-in-one...if anyone is lucky enough to get one!
