Proudly presented by the Gawler Environment Centre, you're invited to the official opening of the Pushing Up Daisies Exhibition. It's a FREE event, however, you do need to register to attend. The event will be held at the Gawler Civic Centre, 89-91 Murray St, Gawler on Saturday 24 July 2021 from 1-3pm ACST. Mayor, Karen Redman, will be opening the exhibition in the Gawler Civic Centre, ground floor Cafe area, outside the library.
The exhibition features eco-coffins and shrouds created by participants in the Eco Coffin Project. These powerful personal life-affirming works of art and love will have you stop and think, as it raises questions about our mortality, sustainable death and raises awareness of a natural burial. Climate change has dictated and motivated us to live a more sustainable life. How about a sustainable death? It's time to consider the impacts on the environment and what happens to your body when you die. These are questions we need to examine, and this arts-based, social change research project raises awareness and curiosity of natural burial in SA, the only state to have natural burial in its legislation.
