Punch Bowl Country Market & Bakery

Named after the Devil's Punchbowl conservation area, this iconic 150 year old barn has been lovingly restored by the Baruzza family and has run as a country market and bakery for several generations now.
The market is located at 136 Ridge Road, a narrow country lane that winds along the top of the Niagara Escarpment, overlooking the city of Stoney Creek. It is easily accessible, off Hwy 20 the Queen Elizabeth Way, and 70 minutes drive from Toronto.
Visiting the Punch Bowl Market is a wonderful nostalgic experience. The interior of the main barn is decorated from floor to high rafters with antique accents like an old Findlay Brothers cast iron stove, snow shoes, and old Schylling toy ads. These are mixed in with racks of home preserved vegetables, fruits, jams, jellies, and baskets of fresh fruits and vegetables.
The Punch Bowl carries a number of local gourmet brands such as Kozlik's, Aunt Lena's, and Gramma's Summer Kitchen. They also sell all varieties of local produce.
Next to the main barn is the bakery, where you can walk through the adjoining door. Here you will find delight after delight. There is a central station for salads and cold foods. All around are cases of freshly baked goods, from savouries like quiches and meat pies, to baked desserts.
Every day there are new freshly baked goods.
Frozen meals are well stocked in the floor-to-ceiling freezer. The Punch Bowl sells local maple syrup, as well as artisan skin care products.
The Punch Bowl likes all things natural and so it sells two skin care lines, Barefoot Venus and Bee By The Sea.
Barefoot Venus is a line of personal care products made in Kelowna, British Columbia. They use ingredients like mango butter, shea butter, and meadow foam. I love their packaging vibe.
Bee By The Sea is a line of paraben-free skin care products based on the superlative sea buckthorn plant, known for its incredible nutrient profile. The line is made from sea buckthorn grown in Ontario, and unpasteurized honey. A really lovely light scent.
You can enjoy covered seating outdoors if you'd like to take in the country ambiance, and contemplate whether you'd like to purchase something from their garden centre. The view over the Punchbowl conservation area across the road is also marvelous. Check them out for horse back rides, and horse and buggy rides too!
