Get pumped by Pumphouse's latest Craft Beer Taps
The Pumphouse Bar on the edge of Darling Harbour is a fantastic craft beer hideaway that some days seems to be forgotten and others is overflowing with people.

The bartenders are very particular about the way they serve and how they serve so, even on less crowded days, a ten to fifteen minute wait at the bar is not uncommon. Many will request cocktails or other mixers and so there just isn't enough staff to serve everyone at once. If you're happy to wait you'll be rewarded.

Enjoying a couple of beers at The Pumphouse

We've snacked there as well as had meals there. We've been there during summer when the fans are blowing and winter when the heaters are burning. We've enjoyed different parts of the Pumphouse and, when it is open, the upstairs seats that look down on the drinkers and foodies below is our place to chill.

I was shocked recently to find that they have put on a lot of new craft beers. If you haven't been there in awhile, you'll probably be surprised yourself. After years of visiting when they only had perhaps ten to choose from, to find they now had over 40 blew me away.

It's not really a place to relax by yourself though. The place is designed for meeting groups and chatting, with large areas and long benches for parties. When its full there is a constant buzz of loud conversation. However, if you get there just after they open, and get a quiet seat up the back with a nice craft beer, it can be a nice retreat from the world for awhile.

If you haven't been to the Pumphouse, it's a short walk from the Paddy's Markets tram stop, towards the Chinese Gardens. Grab a glass or choose one of their more premium bottles and relax in one of the large chairs upstairs.

A nice retreat during the day and a great party area during the night.
