A great way to explore the Pumicestone Passage is on The Ferryman, which departs from Pacific Harbour on various cruise options. There is a Devonshire Tea Cruise (with delightful Devonshire Tea), Captain's Lunch Cruise (great lunch provided), Sunset Cruise, Kids Cruise with interactive activities during school holidays. As well, they cater for functions, including weddings.

The ferry can take 52 passengers undercover and there's plenty of room on the top deck for passengers too.

Passengers will learn about the history of the Pumicestone Passage, the time that Mathew Flinders spent in the area. There is plenty of wildlife – from dugong feasting in the seagrasses, dolphins, sea turtles and dingoes on the island. There are more birds in this area than Kakadu in the Northern Territory, including osprey, sea eagles, cormorants, eastern curlew, black swans, pelicans, seagulls and more. It is reported that over 300 bird species can be found in the area, which includes the many migratory birds, that fly in during the northern hemisphere winter.

The captain tells the interesting history of the area, as the Ferryman travels along the passage. Don't forget to take your camera (or use your phone), for there is plenty of wonderful scenery to record on your journey, especially as you travel closer to the magnificent Glasshouse Mountains.
