I recently attended the theatre production of Puffs at the Alex Theatre in St Kilda, and I'm so glad I did.
Definition of a Puff: From the Harry Potter novels, a Puff is a student attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry assigned to the House of Hufflepuff. Common traits include loyalty, hard work and fair play rather than aptitude.

Puffs is the hilarious story of a group of young Hufflepuff students attending Hogwarts during the Potter years. Life is not easy for a Puff, especially if you are not brave, clever, witty, cool or quick on your feet. But, by golly, a Puff has heart and dreams of big things too! Despite evil lurking in every corner and magic being, well magic, the Puffs are determined to shine in their own story, win the House Cup and stay alive. They'll give it everything they've got to have their moment in the sun or, maybe, just a bit of sun in the shade.

The energy of this play with its delightful story, witty humour and enthusiastic performances shines brightly, and it was such a pleasure to watch. So much thought has gone into every detail, and it was easy to get immersed in this wonderful world of magic.
We attended the Sunday matinee performance which catered towards families and a younger audience and both my eight-year-old daughter and thirteen-year-old son loved it. There is also an evening performance for ages 15 plus which has a more mature theme, and I have heard it is just as good.
Puffs can be seen most days and tickets range from $52 - $82 depending on your choice of seats and time. The show runs for around ninety minutes with an intermission. Plenty of snacks are available in the foyer (try the choc tops, they are delicious) and the staff are friendly and helpful.
