The Puffing Billy is a very popular ride, not just with tourists, but also the locals. It is not unusual to see cars lined up at the parking bay near the Trestle bridge to watch the train, and its passengers, make its way across the bridge, high up in the air.
And on a sunny but cold winters day the steam from the train seems ever more evident.

The train also serves as a lunch or dinner train. You can have a waiter serve you a meal and drinks while enjoying your trip on the train through the beautiful Dandenong Ranges region. And, at various times of the year, there are special events happening with music, or a murder mystery, or something else to add to the interest of the ride.
But most of all, the train helps to feed the dreams of little boys who would, one day, like to be a train driver.
