There's so much to see and so much we haven't seen in our great city of Melbourne. It's wonderful that we have opportunities to learn something new each day. If you've never visited the Hellenic Museum at 280 William St, Melbourne, their monthly public tours is the perfect way to explore 8000 years of Hellenic history with insight from a Hellenic Museum curator. The public tours last for an hour and will guide you through the Gods, Myths & Mortals exhibition, featuring treasures on loan from the Benaki Museum in Athens. Make your booking here for Saturdays 11.30am to 12.30pm on 6 Aug, 3 Sep, 1 Oct, 5 Nov and 3 Dec 2022.
The exhibition includes a remarkable collection of pottery, statues, jewellery, art, manuscripts, costumes and weapons. Through these objects, you will discover the influences, and influence of, Greek civilisation. You'll get the opportunity to ask the curator questions about the Museum and its collections, discover the history of the former Royal Mint building and see the award-winning architecture of our MPavilion. Tours run on the first Saturday of each month and are presented in English. Please note, bookings for each tour close 12pm the day prior. Places are strictly limited to allow a personal experience with the collections and curator. After the tour you're encouraged to explore all other exhibitions and collections housed over two floors and the front lawn of the Museum. All day Museum admission is included with your ticket.
