While The Cornish Arms in Brunswick hosts burgeoning bands in Melbourne's live music scene, it also brings free pub trivia to its patrons each Tuesday night and Sunday afternoon.
Amidst the rattling trams and traffic on Sydney Road, The Cornish Arms offers an edgy destination with homely couches and a generous pub menu to give punters in the north and beyond a chance to get out of the house for some mind-bending fun.
Punters can expect four rounds of questions ranging from general knowledge, to pop culture and music. Each round features a booze prize question to give competitors a chance at winning a jug of beer for their table. The winning table after four rounds wins a $50 food and drink voucher which doesn't have to be consumed on the night. Questions vary to evoke quick conversation among punters on each table to heated debate; an all-rounded balance to keep the momentum and beer flowing. With comedian and trivia MC Adam McKenzie at the helm, the laughs flow as well.
Punters who are peckish can expect their pub food favourites like chicken parmas, fish and chips and pizzas while lamb ragu, red wine risotto and daily specials give punters a chance to branch out from the pack. Those with vegetarian or vegan needs are well catered for, with hearty serves of pumpkin chick pea curry, vegan burritos and mushroom burgers available to keep punters warm and satisfied.
Most mains are capped under $20 to leave punters enough coin for a pint of the many beers on tap. Slices of decadent peanut butter cheesecake are also on hand to revive exhausted brains.
Pub trivia at The Cornish Arms can break the early weeknight boredom or put a spin on a lazy Sunday session. Though, be sure to arrive early or even book a table ahead of time to avoid disappointment.
Trivia kicks off at 7.30pm on Tuesday nights and 3pm Sundays. The kitchen is open from 6pm Tuesdays and lunchtime Sundays. For bookings, phone 03 9380 8383.
