Spring has sprung and what a great way to celebrate at this year's Prospect Spring Fair on Saturday 27 October 2018 from 9am to 3pm at Broadview Oval, McInnes Avenue, Broadview. Large and in-charge and set to entertain, delight and bewilder, it's an exciting day filled with activities and a stellar lineup of local bands on the Main Stage.

Katie Wright Dynamite will play host and for your entertainment, performances by Bonfire/Bonnie Lee Galea, Delia Obst, Trav Collins Music, Max Savage and the False Idols, Adelaide Afrobeat Collective and Lost Romaldo Groove with Snooks La Vie. Bring your chairs and picnic rugs and set up to enjoy the rhythmic beats, constant tunes and prize giveaways. Relax on a straw bale or Persian rug and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere with a beer or wine in hand.

Showcasing a range of free activities, animal rides, cooking demonstrations, art exhibitions, roving performers, market stalls, amusement rides, arts and crafts, food trucks, pop-up bars, kid's story tent, car boot sale and so much more, entry is free. Just five minutes from the city there's plenty of parking. With a theme of Tread Lightly this year, it's a celebration of all things zero waste, plastic free and reducing waste at home. Find out how you can make changes to your everyday life for the best way to be, and plastic free.

The Harris Trail is being introduced this year, and is much like the Yellow Brick Road at the Royal Show. This mini version will have free goodies and giveaways to collect from 10 different stalls as you wander around the Fair, thanks to Harris Real Estate. Start your day by stopping at their stall to do the Trail. Collect your bag, a piece of fruit, a book and a cool pen, all before you start your journey collecting items from various stalls.

Amongst classic Fair favourites, there's the unique entertainment of Flyball where dogs of all breeds compete to race for the ball and are time-trialled. The competition will be on all day. They love it and so will you, especially if you're the owner of the pooch.

Don't forget the introduction of the Prospect Pups Competition! Do you have a beautiful pooch and are based in Prospect? Upload a photo of your #prospectpup (not 'pups' as another account exists with the same handle but with an added 's') and hashtag #ProspectSpringFair to go in the running to win a Prospect Pup Pamper Prize Pack including a $100 voucher, puppacino and free dog wash. VOTE for your favourite pooch by liking the post as the one with the MOST votes win! Enter as many times as you like, winner announced at the Prospect Spring Fair, Sat 27 October.

If watching all that racing finds you exhausted and hungry, a brand new cooking demonstration by Sprout Cooking School & Health Studio will be running, with samples at 9.30 and 11am in the Broadview Football Club Hall.

Kids will enjoy the inflatable kid's story tent called Nylon Zoo, while mums might delight in the cupcake decorating stalls. A petting zoo for the animal lovers and the ever popular Dig-a-Dino for all budding palaeontologists and many many other activities and entertainment abounds at the Fair, not to mention delicious eateries scattered throughout. There's great Indian, Chinese or Italian and many others, or for something different, Hubba Hubba Hummus and the Bubble Bus for refreshing bubble tea.

Christmas is just lurking around the corner, so the largest number of market stalls ever seen at the Spring Fair will come in handy. With over 101 stalls of creators and makers, designers, community groups, local businesses and start-ups, choose a unique handmade product directly from the creative to put under the tree for that special someone.

Some of the artists will be doing demonstrations and even letting you have a go at making something to keep. Ever wanted to throw your own pot or make a badge, well now you can so get involved. Scattered throughout will also be a variety of environmental stalls with eco-friendly products and sustainable practices, helping us all tread lightly in our daily lives.

With a focus not just on the environment, but also on your health at the Fair, why not stop and chat to a dietician, take a hearing test or say hi to a physio. Learn more about the benefits of essential oils, candles, beauty and skincare products as well as eating well. The Health and Wellbeing area is where all the stalls promoting happiness will be grouped, so be sure to pay them a visit.

From the community stage, there will be dance and exercise classes to join, and you can sign up to make them a regular part of your week. Why not try out a new sport in the Sports Zone for lots of fun for adults and kids alike! There's so much going on at this Fair, it'll make you dizzier with delight than a merry-go-round. For more details, check the website and Facebook page and event page. All you need to remember is to mark the date fairly and squarely in your diary!
