, which is operated by The Prospect Heritage Trust, is once again operating after the museum had to close due to renovations by Sydney Water.



Open on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month, between the hours of 11am to 3pm. The entry fee is a gold coin donation. The museum is located in the grounds of Prospect Reservoir, on William Lawson Drive at Prospect.



The Prospect Heritage Trust is a volunteer, non-profit historical society, who are very proud that the Prospect History Cottage, which houses their museum, is in one of the c1895 cottages built for the Reservoir workers.





Prospect's European history starts from as early as 26 April 1788 and Prospect History Cottage contains photographic displays and information on the history of old Prospect, including William Lawson and his farm, Veteran Hall.



There are also displays of Nelson Lawson and his mansion Greystanes, the building of the Reservoir, St Bartholomew's Anglican Church (1841) and cemetery, St Brigid's Roman Catholic Church (1856), the quarry, the public school and Inns as well as the first European settlers and those that followed. They also have a new exhibition that tells the story of Prospect's connection to World War One that is worth looking at.

While there, you could also spend some time in the reservoir grounds. It's a lovely spot to enjoy a BBQ picnic with family and friends. There are areas to play and walking and cycle tracks throughout.



After you have looked at their exhibits, you may like to visit a number of other places nearby and make a day of it. If having a picnic is not your thing, you could try one of the following places for a cool drink and a meal:

The Royal Cricketers Arms Inn, Cnr Reservoir Rd and Cricketers Arms Rd, Prospect.



The Chifley Hotel, Cnr Brabham Drive and Peter Brock Drive, Eastern Creek, (opposite entrance to Eastern Creek Raceway).



The Fox Hills Golf Club, Fox Hills Cres, Prospect.



As stated earlier, the museum is open twice a month or if you have a large group like Probus, Seniors, schools or any other group that may be interested, you will need to make a booking by appointment.
