The Wine Bar has been Lifted
Since the advent of the small venue licence it seems Adelaide's night scene has expanded with a number of new and exciting wine and cocktail bars.
Proof Laneway Rooms
One such establishment is Proof, tucked down Anster Street a little laneway off Waymouth Street, this gem contains two floors and a rooftop of pure atmosphere.
The long bar invites you in with its eclectic and cleverly arranged shelves that draw the eye's interest. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable which gives you the feeling you've stepped into a realm where service is paramount. A focus that has been noticeably absent throughout the hospitality industry for a number of years.
While downstairs the atmosphere is certainly inviting, the large staircase at the back of the room tantalisingly beckons you upward.
You won't be disappointed for venturing upstairs. The space has been used to perfection. The oval shaped tall centre table is a great place to sit, while the built-in corner couches and wall mounted tables are ingenious.
Wall Mounted Table
Outside you'll find a quaint rooftop to relax in with a light show projected on the building at the back that just adds another touch to this already enjoyable venue.
The cocktails are created with a bit of bartender pizazz and the wine menu will delight most palates. It's also a great place for a bite to eat, there's a little bit of gourmet and a couple of classics, but you just have to try the Toasties. I'm sure you've never seen or eaten this home-made comfort food in such an up market way.
