Alternate title the best pizza in the University of Melbourne. However Pronto is practically the only pizza place since Mark's Place closed a few years back. Located outside of union house, it is at the heart of Melbourne Uni. If you don't care for Melbourne Uni, Pronto is still worthy of your attention.
When you see Union House (AKA where he food court is located) there it is; unmissible. It even has a catering service, as shown by the bike parked out the front. There are two options to dine, either inside, where there is limited seating, or outside. There is a variety of seating just on its doorstep: wooden benches, stone seating under trees or the old world charm of a park surrounded by old architecture.Try to avoid the student rush between 12 and 2, otherwise suffer finding a seat in a crowd. The scene is reminisce of animals covering a waterhole in a wildlife documentary, except its not beautiful to witness. Its just a lot of people.
Once you are inside you'll find the glass counter displaying a smorgasbord of pizzas. Pronto offers many affordable meal deals that put many large food courts to shame. Honestly, the pizza turnover is likely to be twice as quick due to Pronto's prime location. It's always hard to choose from their vast selection. As their pizza oven continually churns out pizzas, its always if something else comes along when you've just decided on your order.
It's almost a crime to choose 2 slices of the same pizza. You're not likely to be offered the chance to have a slice from two pizzas that you really want. You never get 2 pizzas you really like when ordering from home. Someone always has to compromise for friends and family. You also never get 2 pizza slices you really want at food courts because the chances are you only like one of the pizzas being offered. Provided you are not talented in pizza making because the dough is so hard to make and supermarket bases just don't taste the same:
why choose 2 slices of one pizza?
I confess I go against my own advice. This is the exception to the rule. Pronto pizza's magnus opum is just too delectable to have one of, you always need a double hit. I honestly have waited for thsi pizza to be served out when I eye it missing from the showcase. They will always replace it.
A double hit of carbohydrates. A frenzy of texture clashes. A contemporary fusion of Italian icons. The spaghetti pizza solves the age old conundrum of 'pasta or pizza for lunch?' The basily tomato and cheese drenched pasta can be quite crunchy. The unexpected support of the stable pizza base phases out the need for a fork. Filling, flavoursome and flourishing discovery on your tastebuds. The simplistic creativity could open up a whole new genre of food or at least a range of pasta/pizza creations. It is an irresistible hot mess of a pizza.
is a hidden jewel in the grounds of Melbourne University. It's vast selection provides the opportunity for finally having pizza your way. The inspiring spaghetti pizza provides the perfect solution so you never have to choose between pasta and pizza again. It paves a new culinary frontier that will shock and astonish your tastebuds.
