Friday night has never been so incredibly hip. Combining this city's love for fixie bikes, outdoor projection and packing crates as furniture is Project Bikes Friday Night Ride. Departing from Testing Grounds, the city's coolest new artspace/venue, this one hour bike ride will take you around the Melbourne's art district as short films are projected onto a series of selected walls for your viewing pleasure. The films are screened via the Projector Bike, which is a custom-made three-wheeled pedal power machine, which boasts an on-board projector! This new take on mobile movies is a great experience for young and old.

Whilst the concept maybe new to us, the Projector Bike has been well tried and tested. After being a part of the Darwin Arts Festival, Bikefest, Sydney Festival and Sydney Fringe, the Projector Bike crew are well versed in how to deliver a superior event. You can check out their Vimeo channel for a sneak peak of the sort of content to expect, however this event is about so much more than just the award-winning movie content. This is a free, active, engaging and inventive way to spend your Friday night in the CBD. A great way to wind down after the working week in a creative setting or meet some new like-minded friends as the nights get warmer and we all get a little more social.

Those over 18 are welcome to remain at Testing Ground after the ride for a chat and a beverage. Testing Grounds, also the meeting and depart point for the ride, is located at 1 City Road, behind the Arts Centre. A little tricky to find the first time you venture there, the easiest ways to find it are either to walk around to the back of the Arts Center then down the stairs to City Road, you will see it from the high vantage point however getting down the stairs with your bike maybe a little tricky! Or to walk/ride around the National Gallery of Victoria down Southbank Blvd, then turn right onto Sturt Street and walk/ride as far as you can until you reach City Rd. You will see Testing Grounds on your left after the Australian Ballet School. This new pop-up venue is coined as a free outdoor art space. "Testing Grounds is a place for new works of art and creative ideas to be developed and shared." The young and friendly staff will help you with everything you need. Find out more about Testing Grounds at www.testing-grounds.com.au

The happens on the last Friday of every month (Fri 19 in Dec due to Christmas) and is a free event for all-ages.
