Flirty, Fun and Fabulous
It's time to shake your groove thing. Priscilla has shimmied its way into Brisbane. With dazzling costumes, a witty script and incredible performances, Priscilla: Queen of the Desert is a must-see show.
An old bus, 'Priscilla' is the glitzy setting for Simon Phillips' award-winning production. Opening on 26th September to a well-deserved standing ovation, Priscilla: Queen of the Desert dazzles audiences and will be lighting up the stage until 4th November.
This production has toured the world, with performances on Broadway, the West End and even a Norwegian cruise line. The show has returned to Australia for its 10th Anniversary celebration tour and is bursting with dance floor classics including "It's Raining Men", "I Will Survive", "I Love the Nightlife" and "Finally".
Based on the Oscar award-winning movie, the musical follows the film's plot. Two drag queens and a transgender woman embark on the ultimate getaway: a road trip from Sydney to Alice Springs. It is a journey of enlightenment for these friends as they discover the outback and its people.
The strong cast includes David Harris as Tick, Tony Sheldon as Bernadette, Euan Doidge as Felicia and Ray Meagher as the outback mechanic. Tony Sheldon has donned Bernadette's frock around the world and gave a stellar performance. His sincere rendition of "True Colours" was memorable and provided an added dimension to his character.
With more than 500 award-winning costumes and 200 headdresses, the designs are impressive and entertaining. The costumes range from dancing paintbrushes to cupcakes and the Australian bottlebrush bushes, frilled neck lizards and emus.
