5/5 Stars - Incredible production with an amazing cast
Michael Cassel Group and Nullarbor Productions in association with MGM On Stage presents Priscilla Queen of the Desert playing at the Adelaide Festival Theatre from Sunday 19th August until Saturday 15th September. Written by Stephan Elliott, based on the book by Allen Scott and directed by Simon Phillips, it is the comical musical story of three friends made up of two drag-queens and a transgender woman who travel on a big bus called Priscilla towards Alice Springs to perform their drag show.

This high energy production will have you dancing in your seat. Opening Night ended in a standing ovation. Anyone who saw the 1994 film knows what to expect but if you didn't, you are definitely in for a treat. The story follows three drag queens played by Tony Sheldon, David Harris and Euan Doidge, who travel to Alice Springs to put on the ultimate drag show, however, Tick doesn't tell the others the full story, only that they will be playing at Alice Springs Casino. It's his ex-wife's casino and he's going there to meet his 6-year-old son.

This production goes beyond expectations when it comes to the costumes. They are big, bright and beautiful and feature huge headdresses and brightly coloured wigs. The songs are catchy and the dance moves will have you dancing along too. The highlight of this production was Tony Sheldon as Bernadette - there are no words to describe how brilliant he was in this part. If you didn't already know, he plays a very convincing woman and was great to watch the onstage chemistry between him and Bob (Robert Grubb). Once you've seen the scene with Bob's wife's entertainment it can not be unseen. This was hilarious and had the crowd was crying out in laughter. Think ping pong balls and a stage.

A standout scene was when Tink (David Harris) puts his little boy Benji (William Fleming) to bed and together they sing 'You Were Always on my Mind'. It was hard not to shed a tear in this precious moment. As well being extremely hilarious, it has a beautiful storyline with a lot of raw emotion.

Starring Tony Sheldon as Bernadette, David Harris as Tick, Euan Doidge as Felicia, Jakob Ambrose, Blake Appelqvist, Michelle Barr, Angelique Cassimatis, Lena Cruz, Xander Ellis, Mitchell Fistrovic, Robert Grubb, Samm Hagen, Tom Handley, Haydan Hawkins, Luke Jarvis, Joe Kosky, Leonard Mickelo, Cle Morgan, Adam Noviello, Adele Parkinson, Emma Powell, Shannen Alyce Quan, Tom Sharah, Patrick Whitbread, Sebastian Cox, William Fleming, Ryder Hewison and Nikolas Karagianis.

Featuring songs 'It's Raining Men', 'I Will Survive', 'I Love The Nightlife', 'I've Never Been to Me', 'What's Love Got to Do with It?', 'Don't Leave Me This Way' , 'Venus' ,' I Say a Little Prayer', 'Thank God I'm a Country Boy' and more. Don't miss your chance to see Priscilla Queen of the Desert - The Musical this August & September in Adelaide. 5/5 Stars an incredible production with amazing costumes, incredible vocals and a talented cast.
