At Echo Point, to the left of the Three Sisters, is the beautiful . This track takes you to the
Giant Stairway and through to Gordon Falls near Leura. This is considered a medium difficulty walking track and if you want to walk the entire track, you are looking at 6.8kms one way taking about 3 ½ hours. You may do the entire walk Leura or to the Giant Stairway and down to the valley floor, there are many different tracks so you can decide when you get there. I found the to the Giant Stairway Arch is just so majestic. I know why the Mountains are called Blue Mountains.
, was named in honour of
Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester , a great uncle to Prince Harry, with a bit of a tainted past.
Some of these tracks were created, in the 1880's. The was opened in 1934 and is one of the shorter walks that were linked to these tracks. Today with over 20 tracks and various lookouts, we can meander our way along enjoying the crisp clean air of the mountains, with spectacular views of escarpments and weather-eroded, sandstone rock formations. Some formations date back thousands of years and highlight the natural beauty the Blue Mountains has to offer.
Enter the land of traditional owners,The Gundungurra and Darug people, and view the Three Sisters from the eastern side and Scenic World on the other side of the Jamison Valley. There are plenty of photo opportunities and lookouts along this walk.
Tree roots overhang the path in sections and in spring and summer the flowers add to the beauty and awe of this walk. Children will love this area. Just before the Giant Stairway Arch, sometimes there are locals selling items in the area. You can go to the Stairway and base of the Three Sisters, returning to Echo Point, within the hour.
Please always tell someone where you are going and take suitable clothing, food and water.
