Print made by the writer using different printing materials and techniques
For 2016, the artists in residence have planned a series of open days and workshops which you can attend for free, including printing, drawing, painting and other activities (more details below). As part of their residency, each of the artists offer a creative community activity, once a month, encouraging creativity in the community.
In January, the writer attended a Basic Printing Workshop with artist in residence, Tamsin Salehian. The workshop explored drawing and printing on fabric, using different materials and techniques, and participants went home with new skills, knowledge and a relaxed mind. The workshop extended over two hours, part of which was spent walking along the Primrose Park bush track collecting leaves and bark to use in the design and printing process.
The public are free to roam around the artists' space, talk with the artists and learn about their art journey. Strike up a conversation with Anne Numont and Basia Zielinska and you'll come away feeling inspired to find and explore your creative side.
Anne brings her passion for drawing to the Artist Studios and is eager to share her love of drawing at an upcoming workshop. Anne is an accomplished artist with an impressive bio, having exhibited widely and being a finalist at The Dobell Prize For Drawing, AGNSW, Australia in 2010.
Basia is a practising artist, art teacher and has a passion for promoting creativity. When teaching primary school children and adults, she teaches the fundamentals of drawing, painting, collage, colour and importantly, focuses on setting the foundation to encourage a life long pleasure of creative practices.
Mandy Pryse-Jones, Jane Theau and Ingrid van der Aa are also artists in residence who exhibit at the Artist Studios and run workshops in their areas of practice.
