Event: -

The much loved stage musical Oliver!, based on the novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens, comes to the the Holy Spirit Auditorium in Bray Park for a strictly limited run this October.

Proudly presented by The Pine Rivers Musical Association (PRIMA), this new production of Oliver! features a talented local cast of over 50 actors and actresses.

The classic musical tells the tale of orphaned Oliver, a nine-year-old work-house boy, who one day works up the courage to ask for "more" supper. As punishment, Oliver is sold to an undertaker and his wife, but he runs away, eventually finding himself in London. As we follow Oliver's search for a loving family, Oliver meets Fagin, the leader of a gang of pickpockets, which includes the Artful Dodger and Charley Bates, as well as criminal Bill Sikes and his girlfriend Nancy.

PRIMA's production of Oliver! follows their highly acclaimed production of Jesus Christ Superstar in April this year and will feature both new and established cast members of the theatrical group; newcomers Clayton Eltis from Cashmere and Mattew Latter from Eatons Hill take on the role of the protagonist, Oliver, and Aran Acararoglu and Alex Kuchmenko, both of Kippa-Ring, take on the cheeky role of the Artful Dodger. Plus several cast members from the successful PRIMA production of Jesus Christ Superstar are also participating in Oliver! - Michael Forman from Dayboro as the slimy thief Fagin, Andrew Munslow from Bridgeman Downs as the vicious brute Bill, Pierre Nicol from Zillmere as the undertaker, Mr Sowerberry and Colin Simpson, who has portrayed Mr Bumble a number of times, will also return to the stage.

The cast will also include a direct descendent of Charles Dickens; Robyn Lupton, who will be in the role of Old Sally. Rosina Gale was was Robyn's great, great grandmother and one of the 'working girls', who was lucky to be taken under Charles Dickens 'wing' into 'Urania Cottage'.

Directed by Mel Evans with musical direction by Terry Million, and featuring stunning choreography by Shelley Marshall, wonderful period costumes by Marilyn Hunt and timeless songs, such as Food Glorious Food, As Long As He Needs Me, Consider Yourself, Oom Pa Pa and Where is Love?, Oliver! is a 'must see' event for the whole family.
