Be your wonderful, scary self!
It's a prom for teens and young people! If you are an LGBTQ+ member, then you're welcome to join in, dress like the spookiest monster who is going to the ball, and you will feel fabulous! With great music, inclusive stalls, games and more, the kids who are some of the most vulnerable are going to be able to have their own space to spend the night and relax, sing, dance and be themselves! If your kids want to take part, then they are welcome to take part in the
Pride and Progress Monster Ball .
The little monsters are coming out to be themselves and celebrate. It's a fun-filled evening where no matter who you are, you're welcome to come along and be yourself. The young kids between the ages of 15 and 24 are all going to be able to come together in their own community and express themselves without fear. With a Live DJ and a dance floor, you can dance all night long. There is also a quiet space and chill-out room if it all gets a bit too much. Check out the photo booth with your new friends and remember the night. There is free food and drinks too, and there will also be stalls for organisations, artists and businesses. They are all companies that are LGBTIQA+ positive small businesses that you are going to be able to help support too. A lot of these businesses are young people who are a part of the community themselves.
There will also be some tabletop roleplaying games too. The in-house Dungeon Master is able to take you through the fabulous tabletop game and you can play all night long if you want. You can just play for a little while too if you want. There are also the Frightening Feud games back again. With lots of different questions that you can answer before the night so your answers will be a part of the game! Just like Family Feud, it's a funny and interesting game that everyone can take part in.
This is a free event that you should register for, otherwise there might not be enough food and bits for everyone. While this is a ball, you don't have to wear a monster ball gown or suit. You can, and it would be more fun to dress up. But if you are happier in jeans and a tee, that's ok too. Be a scary monster in a top and jeans if you like! You can go over the top too, the dress code is whatever you want it to be.
Head to the Cockburn Youth Centre, on Friday, the 1st of November. The doors open at 6 pm and the monster ball will go until 9 pm. Then after that, you will be proud, have lots of new friends and feel more connected to your community than ever!
