It's all in the name - quirky gifts to exercise your mind
Whenever I am in need of a great gift for a male friend, I always head to Presents of Mind in Paddington to scour their bursting shelves of games, toys and puzzles. This is not to say you won't find a fantastic gift for your lady friends too, but I find that guys can sometimes be difficult to buy for and it's great to have a go-to shop to find something a little bit different.
With a huge range of board games to delve into, you will be spoiled for choice as you make a decision between role playing, strategy or party games. We bought our very first version of Settlers of Catan here over 10 years ago and it's still one of our most beloved past times when friends come over for evening drinks.
The staff here are excellent and know exactly where to find the perfect gift or new game for you to play. They also offer a great range of children's educational games which range from First Words Cards to Pocket Cricket Dice and Bananagrams - a game which we still play in our mid-thirties. You could spend hours in this little game-haven on Given Terrace while you pour over the options brimming on shelves, tables and every other available suface.
Presents of Mind opened in Paddington in 1996 and has since become one of the most well known gift shops in Brisbane. Many people from various walks of life have independently told me about their experience shopping here which leads me to think that it defies definition and is a friendly place for inter-generational lovers of games and puzzles from all backgrounds. This is truly one of the most unique and special shops in Brisbane and is always worth returning on a monthly basis just to see what's new.
