The SUBSTATION is a not-for-profit multi arts centre located in a 100-year-old repurposed, industrial building in Newport, Victoria. While their venue remains closed in COVID-19 times, they continue to create opportunities for artists to provide audiences with experiences in contemporary art.

To that end, they've created In Focus, a new online experience. A multi-faceted presentation of interviews, screenings and premieres of select work gives the audience an intimate and authentic connection to the artists. The first artist In Focus is Henry Jock Walker . This is a one-off premiere hosted via YouTube and will only be available for streaming for a limited time on Thursday 21 May 2020 from 8-8.30pm. Stay in touch on the event page where the livestream link will be posted. The event is FREE, however you need to REGISTER to attend this online event.

In the premiere film Little Penguin Cup, you'll see the documentation of the builds in Japan to installation of an Australian Japanese fusion discount department store the Kintsugi Supermarket at The SUBSTATION . Follow the making of the supermarket in an interactive studio installation and performance lead by Nampei Akaki (Japan) and Henry (Australia).

PRIOR TO THE EVENT
On the same day from 2-3pm, The SUBSTATION's Artistic Director Brad Spolding meets Henry Jock Walker IN CONVERSATION to discuss his background, practice and recent work, including his Kintsugi Supermarket collaborative exhibition with Nampei Akaki.
