After eight years on Gertrude Street, Amor y Locura are closing their physical doors and moving online for a while. However before they do, they are having a massive four-days only warehouse market sale in Brunswick East. You can expect to find a range of high quality Latin American crafts and antiquities at sale prices. Perfect for Christmas presents and for some colour therapy in your own casa. Any Day of the Dead paraphernalia fans will find Amor y Locura to be their own personal paradise.
Amor y Locura (meaning love and madness) was established in 2006 in Melbourne, so they have had quite some time to build up a great amount of quality products. They stock everything Mexicana including dresses, t-shirts, papel picado, margarita glasses, garden pots, colourful woven baskets, Mexican cookbooks, authentic acapulco chairs, hand embroidery table runners and Milagros crosses.
The Warehouse Market sale will be open from 10am - 4pm on Saturdays November 8th & 22nd and December 13th & 20th. The address is 4 Rickard Street, Brunswick East, accessible by tram 96 up Nicholson Street and a short walk from tram 8 or 1 up Lygon Street. Of course you may wish to drive if you're planning on purchasing some of their bigger and heavier pieces.
I used to love popping into the Amor y Locura retail store on Gertrude Street so will be sad to see to go, however I will certainly be heading to the Warehouse Market sale to grab a bargain in the lead up to Christmas! In true Latino fashion, the facebook event invite for the sale also states that if you are coming especially for something, just let them know and they will make sure they have it out on the floor.
