Currently, on maternity leave, I'm blessed to be able to enjoy precious moments with my 6-week-old, but as an avid café lover, I'm now in the market for something very specific in my local haunt: family-friendly and space for a pram.
So let the hunt begin for a cafe that ticks all the boxes (and of course offers a delicious coffee to help me through my sleep deprivation). Join me on my journey and help other parents and caregivers discover hidden neighbourhood gems during these life-changing (and at times exhausting) moments. In no particular order:
The Bay: Sandgate
Situated at the Sandgate foreshore,
The Bay is a wonderful new addition to the Sandgate dining scene. Nestled in front of Sandgate Aquatic Centre, the Bay offers both casual dine in & takeaway options. They have a vast breakfast and lunch menu and a wide range of hot & cold drinks (my personal favourite: the chocolate freckle that accompanies your coffee). Order directly from your phone or grab a takeaway and take a leisurely stroll along the water. There's plenty of parking and the toilet block is located within the pool complex.
Collingwood Black: Albion
Hidden in the industrial backstreets of Albion,
Collingwood Black provides an inviting courtyard or indoor seating with plenty of space for your little one. Whilst no changing facilities, we found we could easily change our bub on the table (with our own change mat) – and even saw others do the same. It's a relaxing space, with no pressure to vacate. You can pop next door to Dough Craft (located in Craft'd Grounds) to grab a pastry whilst sipping your coffee in the glorious autumn sun.
Neighbourhood Coffee: Albion
An Albion icon, this local coffee roaster was one of my favourite places for coffee pre baby, so I'm delighted to share it makes the cut. Plenty of space for car and pram parking,
Neighbourhood is a delightful unpretentious refuge to enjoy a delicious brew with a bonus of breakfast and lunch options too.
Our Space: Windsor
A beautiful café & creative hub,
Our Space have established itself amongst the local community. They have a range of hot and cold drinks, sweet treats and of course babycinos for the little ones. They also have a changing table, play mat, wooden toys, and plenty of space for prams.
Let Minnow: Clayfield
Let Minnow in the beautiful backstreets of leafy Clayfield, right by Kalinga Park is a lovely café, offering inside & outside seating. They provide change table facilities and for the older kiddies, pictures to colour in to keep them occupied. They invite kids to be measured on their walls, with their heights there forever (or until the walls are painted). The menu is diverse with plenty of delights to enjoy.
Vend: Virginia
The pinnacle of pram friendly, not only does
Vend have an extensive seating area, change table facilities, a shaded playground for those bigger kiddies, it is also the home to

Little Tree: Samford Village
A visit to Samford really feels like you're 'getting away' from the hustle and bustle.
Little Tree offers house-made artisan bakery goods with an extensive and seasonal menu. You'll find change mat facilities, ramps for prams and a variety of seating options. The beautiful, peaceful outlook will transport you to a place far away.
Victoria Park Bistro: Herston
Providing a beautiful outlook over Brisbane City and Victoria Parklands,
Victoria Park really is such a child-friendly destination. Open daily for breakfast and lunch, there is so much room for everyone. Pram space won't be an issue if you have a bigger group, and for older kiddies, there's a large playground and a ping-pong table. You can easily order at the counter or directly from your table on your phone so you don't even need to move to order that second (or third) coffee.
Coffee Coffee Coffee: Hendra
Don't be deceived by the 'hole in the wall' frontage off Zillman Road,
Coffee Coffee Coffee , right by Hendra train station, is a must stop. Thoughtfully and carefully crafted coffee, this little local has a peaceful and spacious courtyard where you can relax with your coffee, and perhaps a sweet treat whilst your little one (hopefully) sleeps in the pram.
I look forward to exploring more and adding to this list over the next few months. In the meantime, feel free to share your favourites to help my search and fulfil my café and caffeine addiction.
