The Practically Green Festival is a fun FREE family festival coming to Edendale, Gastons Road, Eltham on Sunday 16 October 2016.

From 10am to 4.30pm, all are welcome to come along this special community event, which celebrates sustainable living and all things green.

Presented by Nillumbik Shire Council, the Practically Green Festival is an engaging one-day event with a fantastic selection of interactive activities for the whole family, including practical demonstrations, hands-on workshops, advice and inspiration.

Some of the highlights to look forward to include:

  • Sustainable building and lifestyle exhibitors showcasing unique products and local services. Come and discover new and innovative ways to live more sustainably each and every day! Adding to the atmosphere will be community market stalls, not for profit organisations and groups, and local food vendors.

  • Enjoy live music all day with an eclectic line-up of local talent. Performers include acoustic duo Slow Burn, jazz singer, Raph.a.L, vocal trio Westwood and folk singer and songwriter, Gretta Ziller

  • There will also be FREE children's activities and entertainment all day! Bike n Blend smoothies, Ozzie the Owl craft, Future Sparks bikes, recycled mandala workshop, the recycled instrument garden and roving entertainers are just some of the exciting activities on offer. On the main stage, kids can also enjoy The Animals of Magical Mountain Show and join the Mini beasts discovery walks.

  • Edendale nursery and gardens will also be offering Behind the Scenes Tours (click here to reserve a spot), while Sean Dooley is the birdman will see Sean explore the birds of Nillumbik. You can also discover how easy it is to grow your own plants in the Veggie Seedling Propagation workshop.

    Other practical demonstrations and workshops include Love food, hate waste cooking demo; The Rogue Ginger - zero waste living; Backyard chooks; Worm Farming; Healthy Interiors with Helen Edwards; Sustainable Building and Renovating; and Renewable Energy - Australian Wind and Solar.   • The presentation of the Practically Green Sustainability Awards will also be held. The event celebrates and promotes excellence in sustainability in Nillumbik.

    Practically Green Festival is your opportunity to get answers to your sustainability questions; talk to businesses to get the best option for you and your home; and get involved in practical demonstrations and workshops. You will also learn more about the local Nillumbik natural environment and enjoy children's activities, live music and local food.
