Kidz in the Kitchen

Powerkidz, presented by the Powerhouse, is a school holiday program that is going to prove pretty popular this winter.

Designed for kids of all ages, with some events for grownups too, Powerkidz has packed plenty of pleasurable activities into twelve days.

There are performances, films, workshops, and heaps of free fun too.

Theatre and Film

Little Big Shots: International Film Festival For Kids

Older children will enjoy Slingsby's The Tragical Life of Cheeseboy which has been described as "Roald Dahl meets Edward Scissorhands"; while Look, from the makers of Tashi, has been designed as an ideal introduction to theatre for younger children.

The Little Big Shots: International Film Festival For Kids is a selection of shorts, documentaries, animations, and films, made by kids for kids - the only one of its kind in Australia.

Spanish Flamenco Danza

No matter what your child is into, Powerkidz has something to please them; whether it's singing, dancing, drama, photography, or cooking.

They can learn some new vocal techniques at Powervocals, how to create a digital story at Little Journo, produce and star in their own music video at Music Video Stars, or become an acrobat with Flipside Circus's Intensive Circus workshop.

Mini master chefs can learn how to cook at Kidz in the Kitchen with expert chefs from Bar Alto, or become Sushi Ninjas with expert sushi chef Toshi Asai.

Dance and drama workshops include Spanish Flamenco Danza , Candy B's Booty School: Hip Hop Dance & Drama, and Drama!.

Free Events

Your Comment
I was a bit disappointed with the listing for the Powerkids event at the Powerhouse at New Farm. I went all the way there from the Gold Coast and discovered there wasn't much on today (Monday). Another family arrived at the same time as us and were really disappointed. It wasn't clear on the website that many of the activities - like the rock climbing and free events - weren't happening today. You should have displayed the proper program that was inside the door at the Powerhouse showing each day and the actual activities on for that day. My kids want to go back and see the little kids theatre performance and other activities but it has been an expensive trip already in petrol to find the event wasnt on!
