Climate Change has always been a hot topic, especially in our day in age, so if you're a young person who feels passionate about it and want to have your say, then Power Shift 2011 is an event for you.

This forum will include various key note speakers, such as Dick Smith, Dr. Karl and Kumi Naidoo, who will be sharing their thoughts on climate change and what solutions this generation can offer to solve Australia's problem of emissions. Held over a three day period, there will be plenty of time to voice your opinion, chat with the keynote speakers and meet other like-minded individuals. For those who have been campaigning for years or who are new to the whole topic, this is a great opportunity to do be inspired and also inspire others.

Power Shift is an annual event that is powered by the Australian Youth Climate Coalition (AYCC). This organisation works to deliver 'short-term political impact and long-term cultural change that is needed for a safe climate'. Entirely youth-run, it has over 64 000 members and is one of Australia's largest youth organisations.

Of course, Power Shift is not just an event run in Brisbane. It was first started in the United States in 2007. From there, it spread to various countries, including New Zealand and Australia. It's aim continues to be to raise awareness for changes in the way we live and work, to make the world a better place for future generations, and each person taking a stand to make a difference. To be part of this movement, attend Power Shift 2011 and 'continue the transformation.'

So what happens at Power Shift 2011? Well, the first day kicks off with addresses by Dick Smith and the organisers of AYCC, and thereafter workshops and panels will be held for the remainder of the forum. Topics include such issues as the impacts of climate change, climate solutions and how to win campaigns. There will be time for a bit more of a relaxed 'session' amongst the various workshops and panels, with a social event and even a Power Shift concert. There will also be a question and answer time for many of the speakers, and a closing reflection once the forum has finished its three day course.

So if you consider climate change an important issue facing our society, grab your like-minded friends and head to Power Shift 2011. Prices for admission are listed on the website, and there are various scholarships and discounts available, so don't forget to check it out. To be kept in the loop regarding updates about Power Shift, please register online via the website. There is also a free information pack available online for those who are interested in finding out more information about Power Shift, and also those who wish to attend. Details on location, timings and other information is available via the website.
