Pout is an exhibition of high end fashion dolls at Chadstone Shopping Centre. This exhibition is for adults as a part of the Melbourne International Fashion Festival. The display is high and not meant for children's eyes with the focus being fashion rather than fun. A warning to parents that there are dolls dressed in lingerie.
The dolls are beautiful. I wish I was 12 inches tall so that I could fit into the amazing garments designed by a Jason Wu. Jason Wu does design for real life ladies; he created the inauguration dress for first lady Michelle Obama. Australian designers have also contributed to the exhibition including Alannah Hill.
Jason Wu has also created a fascinating back story for his dolls as models (think a Kate Moss lifestyle) however none of this was on display at Chadstone.
Another surprise was the display was not to spruik the dolls – not that $2,000 for a 3 inch sweater is something I can afford. The exhibition is on at both Chatswood and Chadstone shopping centres. It's free and closes April 1.
