Pottique Lavender Farm

I am a great lover of many things purple or lilac, which includes flowers, especially lavender, so on a recent road trip to Kingaroy, I planned to visit
, on the D'Aguilar Highway a few kilometres before Kingaroy.
The story of the property is that it started in 1981 selling pottery, hand-made there, and in 1996 the owners decided to add a lavender farm, and a shop. These days there is a huge array of items to buy – included an exciting selection of all things lavender.
It is quite a wonderland. It is the largest lavender farm in Australia, and you can view the fields, though on this occasion there were few flowers to be seen – and explore the huge antiques warehouse and the wide variety of items using lavender. There's a café, and lovely places to sit and enjoy the ambience surrounded by all varieties of lavender, many in purple pots. The garden is a treasure, and one needs to spend an hour or more there as there is really so much to see.
They also have a cellar door and when you visit ask to taste the wines. One of the items at the cellar door is the Lavender Liqueur – sadly I didn't taste it, as I was the driver. I did though, make a few purchases and can confess that I am now in love with the lavender syrup on my yoghurt.
They have created some wonderful food using lavender and you can taste some in the shop – lavender icecream, scones, teas and soft drink, to name a few.
So next time you travel the D'Aguilar Highway up Kingaroy Way, look out for the
which is about 8 kms before you reach
Kingaroy. It is certainly well worth a visit. They are open from 10 am to 4.30 pm from Wednesday to Sunday (closed Mondays and Tuesdays).
