February 14th saw the premier of PLC Presents
POTTER, a hilarious take on the famous books and movies by J.K. Rowling. This cast of young actors make the story of Harry Potter and his friends into a funny tale about friends, love, hate and death.
The actors from
PLC Presents take the 7 books and make it in to a 1 hour Potter spectacular. The story begins with Harry (Peter D'Alfonso) and Ron (Joe Romeo) missing the train to Hogwarts and having to take the flying car. The play looks at what happens in the movies and gives it a humorous twist. It follows the love story between Harry and Ginny (Elena-arie Aloi), however this time its one-sided. Ginny is a lovesick teenager pining after her brother's best friend. However he thinks she's an immature red head obsessed with her diary.
I loved Hermione's character played by Maddie Summers, particularly how everything heightened her stress levels and love for Ron. My favourite moment was definitely the kiss they shared before Hermione became obsessed. I loved the voice of Lord Voldemort (Carli Stasinopoulos) and how he was portrayed as Bellatrix's (Lachlan Tyler-Dowd) understudy.
The new take on Harry (D'Alfonso) was great to watch as his new sassy personality consisted of constant picking on Hermione and a secret handshake between him and Ron (Romeo). My favourite character was Moaning Myrtle played Zoe Nicole. She couldn't have nailed that character more if she tried. Loved the look, the laugh and her secret love for Harry.
This play moves through the movies and the journey Harry and his friends take to find all the horcruxs. The horcrux contains a piece of Lord Voldemort's soul and are the answer to his death. But during this journey, Harry finds out he, himself is a horcrux. When Vordemort tried to kill Harry as a baby he accidentally made him a horcrux, this means while Harry lives, so does Lord Voldemort. Will this be the end of Harry Potter or is their a way to destroy the dark Lord once and for all?
The play features all your favourite characters from the movie including Draco Malfoy, Lord Voldemort, Lavender Brown, Luna Lovegood, Cho Chang, Severus Snape (Jemma Dougan), Albus Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall, The Weasley Family and Lily and James Potter
Don't miss your chance to see this amazing production live on stage on the 18th February at 6:30pm. Tickets are $25 and available at
