Share your secret and discover shocking secrets of others
Forget going to church on a Sunday to divulge your sins. In the internet age, PostSecret is how it's done.
Every Sunday, the postcard confessions of people from all walks of life are revealed to the entire internet. Frank Warren began the project in 2004, starting out by inviting people to send him their secrets on blank postcards that he would hand out. The site started small, but exploded in popularity and he is now in possession of half a million secrets- although only a bite-size selection is uploaded onto his blog.
Every Sunday, a selection of enthralling secrets is uploaded to the PostSecret blog.
Not all of them are deep, dark secrets. Some are frivolous and funny. Many are sad. Some are artistic and beautiful, others are scrawled out on a discarded medicine box. All of them are intriguing.
PostSecret is quite a community-focused project. With a minimalist design, the focus of the website is on the secrets themselves rather than any money-making venture. As he says in the below TED talk, in which Frank Warren presents stories and secrets, it is the most visited website that does not have advertising.
Frank Warren will bring the secrets he has been entrusted with to life in PostSecret Live!, a multimedia presentation.
It seems that the tour dates given on the PostSecret blog are always on the other side of the world- but amid much anticipation, Frank Warren is bringing the tour to Australia for the second time ever.
At every PostSecret event, attendees are invited up to the microphone to divulge their own secrets in front of everyone. An atmosphere of support and understanding underscores the PostSecret community, providing a conducive environment to share your secret, as is shown in the below video from the US leg of the PostSecret Live! tour.
