This easy 1.5km walk lies off of the Layman Road, within the Tuart National Park.

The trail is actually designed to be walked at night with a spotlight, so that the nocturnal inhabitants of the forest can be seen! If lucky you will see the rare western ringtail possum.

I walked this trail in the daylight and still found it to be stunning! We spotted a lot of kangaroos and the trail links up with the Malbup bird hide. The track up until the bird hide is wheelchair accessible but afterwards can be quite sandy and obstructed by trees.

The bird hide is great and we all enjoyed watching the various birds in their natural habitat.

This is a peaceful and easy walk, perfect for families and beginner hikers. There are also picnic areas available around the bird hide and across the road at the Layman picnic site, which also has toilet facilities.
