On Thursday 19th June 2014, Mr Lawrence (at) the London will take you on a multi-sensory journey through the hallmarks of Portuguese cuisine.
All are invited to come along and enjoy this fine-dining experience in the iconic London Hotel in Port Melbourne. This recently refurbished space sits opposite the beach in Port Melbourne and offers stunning views of the bay from both the downstairs dining room and the upstairs dedicated function space.
The kitchen is headed by experienced chef and partner Ashley Richie (Head Chef Chin Chin & Mecca Bar) who, for the occasion of the inaugural Portuguese Wine Dinner, will present four delectable courses, each expertly matched with fine Portuguese wines.
Guests should arrive for at 7pm for a 7:30pm start.
To tantalise the taste buds guests will first sample salted cod and potato croquettes & grilled sardines with piri piri, olives and tomato, accompanied with a glass of 2011 Dona Paterna Alvarinho & 2012 Esporao Reserva Branco.
A hearty traditional main will follow; pork and clam stew with fried potatoes, served with corn bread and matched with a 2007 Vadio Tinto & 2009 Assobio.
Next is chanfana-braised seven hills goat in red wine, with migas-kale with black-eyed beans, breadcrumbs and pine nuts. Accompanying this course is a glass of 2009 Quinta do Mondego & 2010 Esporao 4 Castas.
To conclude the culinary Portuguese journey, guests will enjoy Portuguese custard tarts & a cheese selection with a glass of Muscatel de Setubal & Quinta dos Murcas 10 year Tawny.
