Portside's veranda at the marina
Portside: A
restaurant with
good food at
reasonable prices, and where every table has a
marina view. This little restaurant has experienced a few incarnations over the years, and karma being what it is, the current one shows enlightenment.
The full name is
Portside Seafood Restaurant which complements its location. In fact, it has a fish and chips takeaway section, but separate from the restaurant dining area. Happily, 'takeaways' can be 'taken away' to the restaurant area. What a great idea.

Portside - restaurant ahead, takeaway right
Portside' describes well the restaurant's unusual dining area. It is a covered wooden veranda, open to and overlooking Lawries (ne: Kawana Waters) marina. Every table has an open view of the pontoon walkways, boats and water channels.

Every table has a view
The nautical context sees the veranda decorated with motifs like lifebuoy rings, ropes and oars. Overall, there's a sense of balmy spaciousness, where luncheoners get the vibrant colours of day, and evening diners, the intriguing allure of harbour lights twinkling from a mysterious dark.

Nautical scenes everywhere
Now, about the "good food". Portside's menu is a one page affair, offering the popular in seafood, chicken and steak meals. Whiteboard specials extend choices and provide things more exotic. The chef is willing to modify dishes, and can accommodate gluten free and vegetarian needs. Portside is fully licenced, and has a modest selection of beverages.
And "reasonable prices"? Every meal is under $20. Lunch or dinner, doesn't matter: every meal is below the red bill, often by a few dollars, and whatever the dish, you won't walk away hungry or disappointed with taste. Indeed, one finds 'enlightened' understanding about dining and value for money and service.

Portside veranda and tables
This incarnation can accommodate 50 diners. Most times, unexpected patrons of 2 to 4 can get a table; however, management prefers bookings to provide for suitable table and service needs. Bigger groups should book ahead to check availability. A semi-secluded alcove allows for a little private party.
Open Wednesday to Saturday, for lunch (11-2) and Dinner (5-8), Portside is easily seen at Lawries (ne: Kawana Waters) Marina, Orana Street, Buddina.
Portside: Good karma:
Good food, good price, good site.
