What does Port Vincent mean to you? That was the question asked of many of the town's residents. A combination of the responses is reflected in the mural we now see on the 20-metre-high 60-year-old structure.

Designed by Joel Van Moore and Elizabeth Close, the mural was painted by Camilo Delgado and Jasmine Crisp in 24 days using a mixture of spray gun and brush painting. Elements from both the past and the present have been incorporated into the design to tell the story of Port Vincent. There is the ketch of yesterday and the yacht of today as well as two young indigenous and non-indigenous fishermen, or perhaps "fisherboys". Countless kids have sat on that iconic wharf catching their first fish, and those memories hold a special place in the hearts of local parents and grandparents. And, of course, how could our lovable canine friend not be depicted in the artwork as well?

In addition to the mural, a short walking trail with storyboards have also been established between the two carparks to provide information about the painting process and the meaning of the mural as well as this exhaustible resource we call water. The easels at both ends of the trail give you the opportunity to paint your own work of art if you wish to do so.

The Port Vincent water tower can be found on the right hand side of Lime Kiln Road as you drive into town. And, in case you're wondering, the tower does hold approximately one megalitre of water, which equates to 190,000 flushes of a toilet!
