Port Macquarie Golf Club Restaurant (Dining @ portgolfclub)

Port Macquarie Golf Club is a popular sporting and dining venue on the mid-north coast of NSW. The golf club itself may not be as big as some of the other clubs in town - such as The Westport Club or Port City Bowling Club - however it had an extensive and modern makeover in 2018 which brought it "up to par" with the rest. (Yes, bad joke I know!)

Our family have been going to Port Macquarie Golf Club for cheap lunch deals and special occasions for many years, however, we hadn't been back for some time and we were keen to see the new renovations. As soon as we walked in the door on a quiet Tuesday night we saw that the transformation was stunning - the timber floors, the hanging greenery, the contrasting timber and black colour scheme - it welcomed us in like an old friend. We couldn't wait to explore further...

Although the main area was laid out the same as it used to be, with a long window for diners to watch golfers play the 18th hole, the whole atmosphere had completely changed. The dining area was modern and rivalled any funky café or restaurant that we had been to around town. We found a table by the window and had a good look around. We were more than impressed.

The menu at the golf club was extensive, with a wide range of chicken, meat, seafood, vegetarian, burger and pizza options, as well as a small kids menu with three choices for $10. When you're ready, walk to the nearby counter to place your order and then take a number back to your table. Drinks are available at the bar and you can help yourself to bottled water and cups at the central table in the restaurant.

On our visit, we chose to order a full-size meal for our daughter (age 8), as the kids' meals weren't her favourites (except for the chicken nuggets, however, there were only 4 in the meal). We ordered her a Chicken Schnitzel with chips and salad and she ate every last mouthful - much to our surprise! She said it was the best "schnitty" she had ever eaten.

For the rest of us at the table, two of us shared the Seafood Pizza and a Caesar Salad and another enjoyed an entrée size Satay Chicken Skewers with crispy noodle salad and rice. The meals at Port Macquarie Golf Club have always been good in the past and it was good to see that nothing had changed - they were all enjoyed with gusto with not a complaint to be had. Everyone left full and content, after a fun and relaxed night at our favourite club.

The Port Macquarie Golf Club restaurant, named on their website as Dining @ portgolfclub is open for lunch Monday to Sunday between 12pm - 2pm and for dinner Monday to Saturday 5:30pm - 8:30pm. As the dining area isn't large, bookings are recommended to avoid disappointment. Our family visited on a Tuesday evening, which was quiet, however I imagine that it would get very busy on weekends, in the school holidays or after special golf days.

The newly-renovated golf club had a light and airy, comfortable feel to it and we look forward to going back again. It doesn't matter what mood you have when you walk into Port Macquarie Golf Club, you are guaranteed to leave with...
