Personally, I don't think you can have too much pottery in your house or office. A great piece just seems to lighten up the room when you walk in to it.

From the 8th to the 19th of November, The Port Hacking Potters will be running a Pop Up Shop in Cronulla on the corner of Surf Lane and Surf Road at Cronulla, next to the School of Arts.

They will be open weekdays from 9.30am to 2.30pm, except for Thursday, where the hours will be from 2pm to 6pm. You can also call in on the weekend, between the hours of 9am to 3pm.

The Port Hacking Potters is a not-for-profit community potters group based in the Sutherland Shire NSW, where a portion of their sales will be donated to the charity they support called the Assistance Dogs Australia.

The pots and sculptures for sale will be a mix of functional homewares and decorative works. All of their members have years of training behind them and design and make each piece starting with a ball of clay. I have actually watched potters at work and I am still amazed how they can shape the creations that they make.

The Port Hacking Potters started way back on Tuesday the 6th of February, 1962 at 34 Caronia Ave, Cronulla. Since those early days they have expanded 10 laddies to currently having 65 members.

Maybe you too dabble in pottery and would like to meet like-minded potters. If so, you could go along to the meeting that is held on first Wednesday night of each month, except January.

They meet at the Cronulla School of Arts upstairs meeting room 8 Surf Road Cronulla (Above the Arts Theatre) and the meeting starts at 7.30pm with a demonstration or presentation and is followed by a supper break before the business meeting.

If you would like to join in one of the meeting to find out what they do, please contact them.

They also hold a National Pottery Competition every second year and their next one will be 2018.

If you would like to see some of the creations that the members have created, you can follow them at www.instagram.com/p/Baf-wRjAjNL or like their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/porthackingpottersgroupnsw and if you want more about their group, there is information on their history on their blog .
