I love slow travel, slow food and discovering new adventures and delicious regional food in new locations. I'm on an indulgent quest and I'd love you to follow at https://www.facebook.com/walkeatshare

One stop on my south coast 'Club Crawl'
Lately, I've embarked on a summertime mission to enjoy drinks and bar snacks at surf clubs along South Australia's southern coast. Following my satisfying encounter with Kiliko Kepthedes (zucchini fritters) and a glass of Rosé at Pelican Bistro in the Goolwa Surf Life Saving Clubrooms (SLSC), I continued my research at Chiton and Port Elliot.

My research involved doing a 'Club Crawl' between clubs. Leaving our car at Port Elliot, my 'research partner' and I walked, along the coast, to Chiton and back to offset our calorie intake.

Having enjoyed a delicious Prawn Platter at Chiton, our next stop was Port Elliot SLSC, located at beautiful Horseshoe Bay.

The clubrooms are new and smart and overlook the bay.

The view towards Goolwa and the Murray Mouth is glorious and it's certainly worthwhile settling in for a while to enjoy the scenery.

Outside seating comprises barstools as well as lower seating at tables. We ordered drinks from the bar and settled in to consider the menu.

An assortment of snacks, including gluten-free and vegetarian choices, are available with prices ranging from $6-$18. Everything is made on-site.

We chose duck spring rolls that came with a tangy dipping sauce.

We decided to indulge and ordered an additional snack as a precautionary measure. Our selection was the house-made pâté.

Each was delicious and we savoured flavours slowly while sipping drinks in the sunshine.

There was plenty of surf rescue-related activity to keep us interested on the beach below.

It was a delightful afternoon, well spent, enjoying food, wine and scenery on SA's picturesque south coast. The walk between Port Elliot and Chiton is very manageable at only 2kms. We're considering walking further on to Goolwa SLSC on a future sunny afternoon. It's around 9kms which means we can consider eating and drinking more.
