I love slow travel, slow food and discovering new adventures and delicious regional food in new locations. I'm on an indulgent quest and I'd love you to follow at www.walkeatshare.wordpress.com

There's a new one open on Sundays
I am of the belief that having a repertoire of second hand or op shops is a good thing. Shopping is good therapy, I find, and op shopping is less expensive therapy. And, of course, I know my money is going to a good cause.

There are a few good second hand shops in Port Elliot, each very different from the other.

The first is held in the Parish Hall of St Jude's Anglican Church, on Arthur Street. It's open Monday to Saturday 10am until 4pm but only during the school holidays. Fortunately they occur four times each year.

The first room has books and the second, larger room has clothing, shoes, homewares and bric-a-brac.

You'll find The Bargain Barn in The Strand, close to St Jude's and not far from the main road. It's been there for as long as I can remember and has always been a part of my visit-to-Port-Elliot routine.

There's a great selection of second hand books and games as well as antiques and collectibles, homewares and haberdashery. I especially like the nostalgic postcards and always leave with a few.

Sadly, everyone's favourite op shop; ADRA, has closed down but there's a quirky new shop about to open nearby, in Hill Street. It's called 'Sally's Seconds' and it specialises in Ladies Fashion.

It's okay, Adra hasn't closed down - it's just moved to Maude Street, down the road in Victor Harbor :-)
