A beautiful beach with shallow water for your little ones
If you have young children and want to get them more familiar with the beach, Port Coogee Marina is an ideal spot to start. It has a shallow beach that is great for wading in and perfect for little bodies who are getting used to the water, wading and waves.

The Spray Park at Port Coogee

Port Coogee Marina is a harbour set among the growing Port Coogee area located on the way to Fremantle and right next to Coogee Beach. It is particularly popular with families due to Ngarkal Beach, a shallow swimming beach.

The Ngarkal reserve is a beautiful little beach with lovely clean sand. There's also a Dome Café in the immediate vicinity, meaning easy access to delicious coffee, snacks and meals.

The spray park operates from October to May

While the water is shallow, you may notice, however, that there is a definite drop in the water level around 20-30 metres from the shore, so be extra careful to watch young children if they are taking a swim. You can see the change in the colour of the water where the dip happens.

A lovely place for a picnic

Toddlers and pre-schoolers will also love running in and out of the sprays and water fountains in the water playground, which operates daily between October and May.

Port Coogee has public barbecues available

Ngarkal Beach has limited shady spots to set up a picnic blanket on the grass, plus picnic areas and tables with some shade. Bring some sausages and make use of the free public barbecues!

There are walking paths on the outskirts of the beach, making it pram and wheelchair friendly. You will also find public toilets and change facilities.

Some lovely landscaped places to sit

Along with the Dome Cafe, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, plus hot and cold beverages, snacks and sweet treats, the Port Coogee Village shopping centre, which is in easy walking distance and has a supermarket – perfect for parents who tend to forget the essentials when heading out with the kids (yes, me!) There is also a pharmacy, another café and a small number of shops in the centre, plus the unique Roti Burrito Indian-Mexican restaurant.
