Mangrove/Sapphire Walk
Located approximately 125 kms from Adelaide on the east coast of Yorke Peninsula is a town called Port Clinton. It is a small coastal town surrounded by a conservation park and mangroves and rich in birdlife.
About 7kms south of Port Clinton is another small coastal town called Price, which also is noted for its substantial mangrove forest and birdlife.
As part of
Walk The Yorke , a walking trail called the Mangrove/Sapphire Walk takes you from Port Clinton to Price and vice-versa. The trail follows majestic red cliffs top with views over the Gulf St Vincent. Along the way, you will see coastal scrubs, unique mangrove swamps and the Sapphire salt marshes, not to mention an abundance of birdlife. The trail is 7.8 kms one way, 15.6kms return. The recommended time allowance for the walk is 2 hours each way or 4 hours return. The trail path is compacted and considered an easy level walk. You can, however, choose to walk any distance you like just to enjoy the beautiful coastal view.
In both towns, there are big resting areas with picnic chairs and tables. Both towns are also popular spots for fishing and crabbing.
