After disappointing performances and a failing to make the finals in 2016, the Port Adelaide Football Group has regrouped, restocked and re-energised itself for the 2017 season, a season when it anticipates a much better year and a chance of playing football in September.

With an even mix of twilight and evening games at Adelaide Oval, Port Adelaide plays host to a number of teams who finished last season in the second half of the ladder. In addition, Port Adelaide travels away to visit the remaining clubs in order to ensure all teams are played once, and the Adelaide Crows, Gold Coast Suns, Brisbane Lions, West Coast Eagles and Collingwood are played twice.

After starting the season with a difficult trip to Sydney to play last year's grand finalists, Port Adelaide settles in for 11 home games in which they are looking for maximum points for that chance at September glory. Port Adelaide's home games in 2017 are :

  • Sunday 2 April (410pm) v Fremantle Dockers
  • Saturday 8 April (710pm) v Adelaide Crows
  • Friday 21 April (720pm) v Carlton Blues
  • Saturday 6 May (435pm) v West Coast Eagles
  • Thursday 1 June (720pm) v Hawthorn
  • Saturday 17 June (435pm) v Brisbane Lions
  • Saturday 1 July (710pm) v Richmond
  • Saturday 15 July (210pm) v North Melbourne
  • Saturday 29 July (435pm) v St Kilda
  • Sunday 13 August (410pm) v Collingwood
  • Weekend of 26 August at a time to be determined v Gold Coast Suns

  • Port Adelaide will also play one more game at Adelaide Oval during 2017 on the afternoon of Sunday 6th August when they are visitors for the second showdown game of the year versus the Adelaide Crows.

2017 will also see Port Adelaide play a game against the Gold Coast Suns on Sunday 14 May in China, the first of many games that the club hopes to play in coming seasons in order to promote the sport throughout Asia, and to support the Club's new sponsor.

Port Adelaide boasts a squad whose average age is just over 23.5 years of age and comprises just two players aged over 30 as at the start of the season. Notwithstanding that the club has a good mix of players in their 20's, with only 8 teenagers on their list, 11 players who have played over 100 senior games and 11 players who have yet to make their debut.

Further information on Port Adelaide including updates to players, games and game-day tickets is available from the Port Adelaide Football Club website or their facebook page .
