Supporting the local community
They say home is where the heart is and you will definitely feel at home at Poppy Café and Pantry, Pascoe Vale. Mother/daughter team, Vilma and Vanessa, share a little piece of their "cucina" in Melbourne's north.
This cosy café, which is soon to celebrate its first birthday in April, has delighted the local community of Pascoe Vale with its warmth and hospitality.
With a full brunch menu hinting delicious Mediterranean flavours, it surely feels like you are in Nonna's kitchen.
Gourmet focaccias, healthy super salads and mouth-watering pasta are just a few appetizing delights at Poppy Cafe. Why not take away a serving of homemade soup or pasta for dinner as well!
Offering that all-important latte or espresso that we Melburnians have incorporated into our daily routine, Poppy Cafe also delivers delicious smoothies and gluten-free/vegan treats. Specialising in and advocating natural produce, you just might find freshly picked fruit and vegetables from Nonno's garden out the back.
Not only a café, Poppy offers a wide range of nuts, dried fruit (organic and Australian) seeds, grains, herbs and spices. Other pantry items for sale include pasta, sauces, tea, coffee and confectionary, supporting some of Melbourne's best local providers and businesses.
Furthermore, Poppy's community support continues. Amidst "story time" for the little ones and exhibiting local primary school artwork, they have also collected stationery for school kids in need, locally and globally, via donation boxes in the café for the Australian charity "Pencils Community".
There's nothing greater than supporting a local business that actually gives back to the community. Pop into Poppy Cafe and Pantry for a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and fresh home-cooked food just like mamma used to make.
