Amelia Veale, host of Be The Drop podcast introduces podcasts in a warm, funny and personal way that's designed to make newbies feel comfortable and understand what's involved in creating your first podcast. Details on how to speak into the microphone and the key elements of planning and preparation are covered, along with information on how surprisingly accessible and affordable some professional recording gear can be.
Amelia's sound engineer pops in to explain some of the technical difficulties they've encountered so you can avoid making the same mistakes. Audience members are invited to join Amelia on stage to tell stories, answer questions, and demonstrate in real life just how it's done, and how easy it is.
The entire show is recorded live and becomes the next episode of the Be The Drop podcast. Keep an eye out next Monday for Be The Drop ep 129, featuring everyone who attended the show!
I can say it was a new and novel experience for me. It was inclusive and encouraging, and expanded my knowledge of podcasting much quicker than I think is possible in any other way. It was funny and engaging and well worth the time. The hour passed quickly (I think it was over before any of us wanted it to end) and that's a hallmark of a great show.
The next podcasting lesson for Fringe 2019 is at 8.30 pm Saturday 26th Feb at The Jade on Flinders Street. Tickets are $20 and you can get them here.
