The pop-up garage sale 'market' is returning to Woods Street Arts Space . Presented by Woods Street Arts Space and Hobsons Bay Council, it's all happening on Saturday 20 September from 10am to 3pm at 44 Woods Street, Laverton (right near Laverton train station) only 15 minutes from Melbourne CBD.

Kids' clothing, artisan products, vintage homewares, cakes to books and vinyl records are what you'll find at the market. There will be free face painting for the kids from 12noon to 2pm and refreshments and coffee will be available to buy from food trucks and the Coffee Cube. DJ Nathan McCarter and the Universal School of Music will be providing the entertainment.

Entry is free, however a gold coin donation would be appreciated. The gold coin donations and proceeds from stall holders fees will be donated to West Welcome Wagon, a local charity supporting refugee communities. For more information contact the event coordinator Laura Dalta Viota via email at [email protected]

West Welcome Wagon (WWW) was started by Yarraville's Mia McGregor via a dedicated Facebook page in September 2013 when she realised there were families moving into the area without any furniture or household goods. There are no paid staff just volunteers working together for the good of the common man. A voluntary committee and core group of voluntary collectors and voluntary delivery drivers work tirelessly behind the scenes. If you would like to join this band of selfless workers who help refugees and asylum seekers settle in (most come with nothing but the clothes on their back), put in a request to join their closed group on their Facebook page. You can also contact the committee President via email at [email protected]

Woods Street Arts Space , a former post office, is a shop front arts hub supporting a program of workshops and exhibitions including a range of Street SmART and Art Sauce activities. If you have an artistic workshop you would like to run, an exhibition proposal or arts related workshop exhibition event at Woods Street, read the conditions of hire
HERE . There will be an application to fill in and email to [email protected].

There is a lot happening at the Woods Street Arts Space all the time. CLICK HERE for the August to December 2014 programs. For more information, contact the Council's Arts and Culture team on (03) 9932 1000 or email [email protected]
